AboutUs
Mad about digital
What if you could do your hobby for a living...
That’s us!

It’s true. We’re geeks. Our passion has always been to be great coders. We know what good, and bad code can do to a digital experience. It’s why we started Torchbearer in the first place.

The future’s exciting to us. The possibilities endless. Most of all, we want to give those that don’t have our programming skills, the chance to benefit from them. And if nobody ever worked again, we’d still be doing this.

We have a cunning plan...

If we’ve learnt anything in our short history, it’s that there’s a business perception that software and apps are complicated to make, overrated and very expensive to deliver.

Our mission is to dispel these myths and help the dreamers, pragmatists and sceptics out there enjoy great software that adds value to what they and their users do everyday.

The Team
Pete Waugh
Technical Director

When not helping client’s, Pete excels at being the shorter of the two founders without letting on. His hobbies include ferret weighing and the search for the meaning of cheese.

Jon Langley
Development Director

Jon is hell bent on giving virtual reality a lasting impression. So much so, he’s left a Jon-shaped hole in the office wall. When not coding, Jon likes to catalogue his sustainably-sourced eyewear.

Michelle Cowan
Non Executive Director

Michelle is a passionate collector of lost causes. Most recently, her interests have led her to helping and supporting sick animals, namely Pete, Jon and Bren. To relax, she counts her blessings.

Bren Adams
Creative Director

Bren is the creative force of the company. Combining a unmatched mastery of invention, design, originality and marketing, he’s never short of a good reason why he’s late for meetings.

Steve Frost
Business Development

Steve still remembers the good old days when you had to do things in the real world. It is that hard path to experience that has made him the tech-savvy know-it-all he is today. If you need help, Steve’s your man.

You don’t need to be a multi-national business to make a difference.

A simple plan

Many charities rely on companies like Torchbearer to do pro bono work on behalf of their cause – alongside our day to day activities, we are totally committed to giving back to the community and we will seek to take on 2 projects per year.

Speaking your language

Pro bono publico (English: for the public good; usually shortened to pro bono) is a Latin phrase for professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment. Unlike traditional volunteerism, it is service that uses the specific skills of professionals to provide services to those who are unable to afford them.
